If you’ve ever been to my house, you know it’s anything but quiet.
There’s very few moments of stillness.
But stillness is not just lacking in my house.
It’s this place we call home.
The busyness of life keeps us from being still.
“Be still and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10
“And after the earthquake a fire,
but the Lord was not in the fire.
And after the fire, the sound of a low whisper.”
1 Kings 19:12
If there’s one thing I need to practice, it’s being still.
It’s slowing.
It’s listening.
I know God speaks.
But I don’t often hear.
It’s in that place that I know I can hear God speaking.
His voice is the lifeline.
His voice brings clarity.
His voice renews and restores.
Oh to practice stillness.
It is a fine art.
